Ottawa: The City that Fun Forgot

If you live in Ottawa, I am sure that you have heard the infamous phrase "Ottawa: The city that fun forgot." After living in Ottawa for almost five years now, I think this is a tad outdated. Sure, we don't have the big city vibe like New York and I wouldn't say we are the Vegas of Ontario, but Ottawa can still be a lot of fun.

Admittedly, Ottawa is not the first destination that comes to mind when contemplating a holiday, but this under-the-radar city has unique visual charm, hidden treasures, and an astonishing catalog of amazing places to dine, and a quirky sense of play.  So let's take you to a few of my favourite spots in Ottawa that anyone can enjoy.

I know that when you hear the word "museum", it doesn't scream fun, but in Ottawa, there ...

    Could 2020 be Your Year?

The proverb "The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the second-best time, is right now", sounds a lot like buying a home, doesn't it?

While I do believe that this adage is true, there’s no sense beating yourself up for not buying twenty years ago. Let's get real, the 2000s were a wild time; we had much smaller eyebrows, no smartphones, and we had to go to a store to rent movies. On a serious note, even in the last 10 years, maybe you weren’t sure you wanted to set down roots, or maybe you always intended to save more for a down payment, or maybe you were still a child. Regardless of the reasons, you’ve still got the second-best option available to you now.

Alright, enough nostalgia, let's get into why it is a good idea to buy now.

As with many first-time buyers, your primary concern may be having enough down payment. When most people think down payment, they think of 20% and the reality is that most of us don’t have 20% of the pu ...

Busting the Myth About Winter Home Sales

So this is embarrassing to admit, but since I was a kid, I was under the impression that Twinkies would last literal decades. It didn't help that movies(I am looking at you Zombieland) showed that they would stay delicious for years. It wasn't until I was scrounging around for treats one evening that I noticed that they actually have a pretty short shelf life. I read more about it online to make sure I wasn't the only one who thought this when I noticed that it is a very popular misconception.

Do you know what else is a total misconception?

The idea that you must wait until spring to sell your home. Baffled? I know it sounds crazy, but let me explain.
When there are more homes are on the market during the springtime, it means buyers can be choosier. In turn, fewer homes for buyers to choose from in the winter play in your favour.

    Motivation
Let's get real, winter buyers are serious! Winter in Ottawa is no joke, so buyers who are willing to go out a ...
